Candles

Lewis asked if we could light the candles for breakfast. They are new to our table and have been a frequent topic of coversation this week. I said that they are really more for special occasions and he asked: "Is today a special occasion?"

It's a Friday in October. These only come four or five times a year. We didn't have the candles last Friday or the one before that. If we don't light them today, another year of Friday's in October will have passed uncelebrated and unnoticed.  

I struck the match and Lewis and Ford took turns lighting the candles. We ate cereal together by candlelight.
