Amnesty

If ever the day comes when you are offered amnesty, take it.

Please, take it.

In your wisdom, you may resist. You've spent your life avoiding swindlers and crooks who might steal your freedom and sustenance.

But this day will be different.

You may not believe the offer, at first, because it arrives from the voice of a child who is clearly playing a game.

They are shouting: "Ollie ollie oxen free."

Abandon your hiding places. All can come free.

In your wisdom, you'll perceive a trap because nothing comes free.

Abandon your wisdom too. This is a day for fools; for those who believe in things that are too good to be true.

Children don't play hide and seek because they want to hide; they play for the rush of being found.
