Ford has 79 freckles on his nose.

I know this because he walked the entire length of the zoo today–to the gorillas and back–for the very first time. I didn't realize this was a first until he told me in the parking lot, beaming, that he didn't sit in the stroller once.

When he dozed off that evening at church, I remembered our walk through the zoo.

He slept in my arms through the songs and he didn't hear the pastor release the children for their lesson.

I listened to the sermon while I watched him sleep.

And I counted.
